S.K.C.G. Autonomous College, Paralakhemundi, established in 1896 under Raja Goura Chandra Gajapati Narayana Deo, embodies the vision of the former rulers of Paralakhemundi to advance education in Odisha. Initially, the college obtained affiliation as a second-grade college from Madras University and became a first-grade institution in 1936 due to the persistent efforts of Maharaja Sri Krushna Chandra Gajapati Narayana Deo.
The college was later affiliated to Andhra University and became one of the first five colleges under Utkal University in 1943. In 1947, the Government of Odisha took over the college and renamed it after its foster father and patron, Sri Krushna Chandra Gajapati. Since 1967, it has been affiliated with Berhampur University.
Recognised as a Lead College in 1990, it celebrated its centenary in 2001. Offering UG and PG courses across Arts, Science, Commerce and AEDP programs, the college achieved autonomous status in 2002 and NAAC accreditation in 2004, and continues to provide quality education aligned with NEP 2020 to meet contemporary needs.
